Via Fuck Yeah, Martin Freeman!

sarahlb86 asked: Hi :) I need a little help. I want to write to Amanda Abbington and figured that the same address as the postcard project could work. But, I don't have the address :( I was told that you might.... thanks in advance x

If you want to write to a UK actor a handy place to go is Spotlight

http://www.spotlight.com/

Type in the actors name and it will come up with their agent. For Amanda its coming up as:

CURTIS BROWN GROUP LTD

Haymarket House, 5th Floor, 28-29 Haymarket, London SW1Y 4SP

Review of The Pirates: An Adventure with Scientists

The Pirates In an Adventure with Scientists is the latest stop motion adventure from the geniuses at Aardman following the superlative Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit.

The Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant)has a great life adventuring on the high seas with his loyal crew and beloved parrot Polly. But he is goaded into taking part in the Pirate of the Year awards by Cutlass Liz & Black Bellamy (an entertainingly arrogant Jeremy Piven). Problem is as pirates go the Pirate Captain is pretty hopeless. He can afford tasty ham nights for his rambunctious crew but lacks the gold, jewels and assorted plunder he needs to impress the Pirate of the Year judges. But when he loots the boat of Charles Darwin (David Tennant) & Darwin recognises that Polly the parrot is actually the last dodo alive the crew set sail for London and riches and glory. But London is the domain of the very angry Queen Victoria (Imelda Staunton) and not only does she hate pirates but she has sinister designs on Polly…

Pirates is a gloriously silly, fast paced, warm hearted and thoroughly British affair. Aardman specialise in superb animation and characters that you genuinely care about and The Pirates delivers both in spades. As you would expect from the maestros of stop motion the film looks incredible. You will boggle at the extraordinary effort the Aardman team have put in. There are so many clever blink and you’ll miss them sight gags (A pirate wearing a Blue Peter badge being just one of them) that multiple viewings are required (loved Darwin’s monkey butler who comes with his own silent movie style cue cards).

There are also some incredible set pieces (a desperate race to rescue Polly involving the crew and a very sturdy bathtub spring to mind). But clever animation counts for nothing if you don’t care about the characters. Luckily the characters in Pirates are incredibly warm hearted and sweet.Hugh Grant has his most likeable role in years as the  endearingly silly, kind hearted & none too bright Pirate Captain blinded by the allure of a shiny Pirate of the Year title. The whole voice cast is superb. Martin Freeman as the long suffering first mate of the Pirate Captain (just call him Pirate Watson) is just brilliant exuding exasperation & fondness for his wayward Captain. David Tennant puts in an engaging performance as the grasping Charles Darwin and Russell Tovey is utterly adorable as the Albino Pirate.

It also helps that the film is very very funny in a delightfully old fashioned British way. It’s one of those rare films which will appeal to both children (Pirates, monkey butlers, cute dodos) and adults (sight gags, surrealist, subversive humour, hilarious Flight of the Conchords song employed at a key moment which had me in hysterics, engaging voice cast).

The Pirates An Adventure with Scientists is fantastically good fun and will leave you with a big dopey smile on your face. A more perfect family film for the Easter holidays you would struggle to find.

The Pirates was released nationwide today.
